Thomas Jefferson AYERS (VETERAN CSA)
Black Springs Cemetery
Montgomery County, Arkansas

PVT CSA
2 Arkansas Infantry
Civil War Confederate
Died July 16, 1916

Thomas Jefferson Ayers was my gg-grandfather. His parents were Daniel and Elizabeth (Gross) Ayers. Jeff, as he was called, was married first to Lucy Ann Bennett; they were parents to Thomas Daniel, William Jefferson, Frances Elizabeth and Sarah "Sallie" Ophelia Ayers.
Thomas Daniel Ayers was my g-grandfather.

Jeff was a private in Company "D", 2nd Arkansas Infantry, CSA. After the war, he migrated to Montgomery county and supported his family as did many of that day by farming. It was a hard life.

Jeff was a trustee of the Womble Methodist Episcopal Church South in Montgomery county which stood from 1913 -1954. The deed to the church is recorded at Montgomery County Court house in Mt. Ida in Record Book "R", pages 513 & 514. Other trustees were J. W. Graves & N. M. Mongtomery.
