August 7, 1898 - February 4, 1970
Victor Charles Smith, 71, El Dorado, died Wednesday in a local hospital following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 7, 1898, in Kileen, Tex., the son of Benjamin and Ellen Williams Smith. He was a retired El Dorado businessman and a veteran of World War I serving with the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Survivors include three brothers, Vardeman Smith, Pampa, Tex., Doyle Smith, Thorps Springs, Tex., and Elbert Smith, Myrtle Creek, Ore. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Strock officiating. Burial followed in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside. Active pallbearers were Charles Engleberger, Rudy Semasek, Albert Abdelia, Leo Tauer, John Crowley and Col. J. J. McCarthy.
