Eldon Lynn Swenson, an incredible man of faith, went to be with His Lord Thursday, December 3, 2015. Eldon touched the lives of all who knew him with his gentle, quiet and humble spirit. He was a servant leader with a heart to follow Jesus in whatever way God chose to use him. The truth of God's Word was his treasure and he willingly shared his hope in Christ with all he encountered. With integrity and character, he proclaimed the Gospel message with a desire for all to come to a saving knowledge of the Lord he so faithfully served. He has been called a "man among men" by many who knew him.

Eldon was born in Lewiston, Idaho, on April 12th, 1947 to parents, Louie and Nellie Swenson. He graduated from Boise State University and received his Masters of Arts and Education from the University of Northern Iowa. In 1969, Eldon gave his life to Jesus and developed a hunger to study memorize God's Word. Through 37 years He served in Christian education in Colorado, Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri, and Arkansas. He and his wife moved to El Dorado in 2003 where he served as teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator of West Side Christian School. In recent years, he was employed by West Side Baptist Church and MarketPlace Ministries. His presence on the campus of West Side allowed him the opportunity to continue ministering to children and adults. As a chaplain he found great joy in ministering at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, Martin Transport, Cross Oil and Amercable. He was a story teller and delighted in sharing the reality of Jesus in his daily life. He offered hope in times of trouble, reciting scripture from memory, especially his favorite verse, Isaiah 41:13. He was an avid walker and participated in numerous 5K races, and enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and St. Louis Cardinals.

Eldon was a faithful member of West Side Baptist Church where he served as a staff member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and small group leader. Over the last two years, he traveled to Nicaragua where he ministered to others through evangelism and discipleship.

Eldon left behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Colleen Swenson, a son Daniel Swenson (Vangie and 1st grandchild due June, 2016) of Eagle River, Alaska, a daughter Paula Swenson of El Dorado, a sister Patty McLeod (David) of Keizer, Oregon, as well as a host of family and friends.

He fought the good fight, finished his race on earth, and heard the words from the Lord, "Well done." Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8th from 6-8 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church. His celebration of life will be Wednesday, December 9th at 2 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church with Rev. Brother Gerald Perry and Rev. Bob Inmon officiating.
