Thorn Cemetery
Faulkner County,
Arkansas

Township 7 north range 13 west, section 9

An active cemetery located on a hilltop in north western Greenbrier. To reach the cemetery, from the junction of US 65 & Arkansas 225 go north on US 65 for 1.25 miles; turn left (west) and follow the signs to the top of the hill.

Edmond Thorn homesteaded this area prior to the Civil War, and the grave yard was named for his wife, Mahalia Barton Thorn, who died in 1854 and was the first person buried here. This fenced in, well kept cemetery is also the burial site or the infamous James Calvin Casharago, the last person hanged by Judge Isaac Parker at his US district court at Fort Smith, Arkansas (July 30, 1896)
