Marcus Morgan, aged 48, of Stephens, was found dead from a wound of a .22 bullet at 11:090 a.m. Sunday in the bathroom of his home, according to Coroner George Mathis today, an automatic pistol was by the body and the coroner said death was due to the self-inflicted wound. Coroner Mathis said that Morgan was apparently despondent over the death of his son about three years ago. The body was taken to a Stamps funeral home. Morgan was a member of a prominent Stephens oil family and is survived by his wife; one son, Frank Morgan; one daughter, Mrs. Don Smith; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Morgan; one sister, Mrs. Mae Emma Tarver, all of Stephens; three brothers, Joe and Clarence of Stephens and George of El Dorado. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 in the Stephens Methodist Church with burial in the Stephens cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home of Stamps. (Camden News - February 21, 1955)
