Son of Z T Grayson and Martha Alice Hawkins
Stephens, - Powell Clayton Grayson, 91, died Thursday morning at his home here after a prolonged illness. He was a retired planter, a former postmaster of Stephens and a former president of the Bank of Stephens. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. At the time of his death he was an active member of the Republican State party. Mr. Grayson was born at Prescott March 21, 1875. He moved to Stephens in 1900. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lena D. Grayson; one son, Russell Grayson of Stephens; two daughters, Mrs. John Abbott of El Dorado and Mrs. Tom Johnson of Houston, Tex., one brother, C. W. Grayson; and one sister, Mrs. Roy Caldwell, both of Stephens; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church of Stephens with the Rev. James R. Sewell officiating. Burial was in the Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. (The El Dorado Times - August 5, 1966)
