SILOAM SPRINGS — Stanley Vernon Russell, 91, of Siloam Springs died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in Siloam Springs. He was born May 20, 1917, in Memphis, Mich., to Vernon and Beatrice Maston Russell.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and served as a tail gunner in the European Theater.

He married Faye Barnes on Nov. 27, 1945, in Detroit.

He was a police officer in Detroit for more than 20 years. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at a Detroit hospital and in Siloam Springs as an auxiliary police officer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion in Siloam Springs and the New Sulphur Freewill Baptist Church near Prairie Grove.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Keith Lee Russell of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Richard Allen Russell of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wasson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glen Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

SILOAM SPRINGS -- Services for Stanley Russell, who died Dec. 20, 2008, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. The Rev. Glen Faulkner will officiate. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery in Washington County.
