B.P. Allen, one of Gravette's long time respected citizens, passed away last Friday morning shortly after midnight. He had been in very poor health for some days and while he showed improvement at times his death was not unexpected. Mr. Allen and family have lived here for many years; formerly on his farm but later moved to town and has been assisting his sons, Edwin and Luther, at the lumberyard. Besides his wife and two sons above mentioned, Mr. Allen leaves two sons, John and Oscar, who reside in Texas, one a telegraph operator and the other a merchant - all the sons being young men of ambition and enterprise. The funeral was conducted Saturday by Rev. J.W.West of the Baptist church, of which Mr. Allen was a member, and interment took place at Georgia church. The News Herald, speaking for the community, extends condolences to the family.

GRAVETTE - Mrs. Mary C. Allen, an old and highly respected citizen, died at her home in Gravette October 8. Burial in Mt. Enterprise cemetery October 9th. She was the mother of Luther Allen, carrier on Route 3 out of Gravette.
