Bill Givens the husband of Sammie (Powell) Givens. Billie Givens the son of Ray and Audrey (Stroud) Givens.
Bill(ie) Givens of Mount Pleasant, formerly of El Dorado, passed away September 23, 2014 with his wife Sammie and his daughters by his side. He was born February 6, 1937 in Mount Pleasant to the late Ray and Audrey (Stroud) Givens.
He was united in marriage to Sammie Powell July 2, 1959 in Mountian Home, Arkansas and to this union two daughters were born.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and baseball fan. His greatest joy was teaching his grandchildren to fish and hunt. He was a member of Saint Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church and attended Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years: Sammie (Powell) Givens of the home; two daughters: Nancie Givens-Craig (Harold) of North Little Rock and Sara Givens-Cato (Ferrell) of Conway; three grandchildren: Mattion Cato, Hayden Givens-Craid and Amelia Cato; sister-in-law: Johnnie Killian (Billy Gene) of Calico Rock; and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside funeral service will be Friday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Barren Fork Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Richard Houk of Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic for his 18 years of care and compassion.
