*Obituary
John R. Carruthers, 71, of Conway died Saturday (June 3, 2000) at Conway Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Newcomerstown, Ohio, a son of the late Robert and Mary Woodard Carruthers, he was a retired truck driver, an Army veteran and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors are his wife, Martha Jane Sarchet Carruthers; a daughter, Karen Roberts of Little Rock; three sons, David Carruthers of Wichita, Kan., John Carruthers of Easton, Md., and Clifford Carruthers of Bay Town, Texas; two brothers, Clyde Carruthers and Albert Carruthers, both of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Betty Scharr of Coshocton, Ohio, and Shirley Davis of Newcomerstown; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Tim Kellerman officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Sarchet, Ray Sarchet, Curtis Sarchet, Dan Sarchet, George Baker and Kent Baker.
