GENTRY — Connie Jan Carter, 51, of Gentry died Sept. 29, 2006, in Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 5, 1954, in Crosbyton, Texas, to Delbert Earl Abshire and Janie Arternzie Mayo Abshire.

She lived in the Decatur, Gentry and Highfill area for more than 30 years, moving from Southland, Texas, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She was a detention deputy for Benton County Jail and enjoyed fishing and making flower arrangements.

She was a member of the Highfill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Carter of the home, to whom she was married on March 25, 1989; two sons, David Orr of Bentonville. and Bobby Orr of the home; one daughter, Angeliah Carter of the home; her mother of Highfill; three brothers, Jackie Abshire of Bedford, Texas, Curtis Abshire of Centerton and Stanley Abshire of Highfill.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highfill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Holland and the Rev. Roger Robins officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, online at www.wassonfuneralhome.com.
