Opal the daughter of George Whitmire and Mary Melvina (Osburn) Whitmire.


Opal Crownover, 91, of Batesville, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 5, 2004, in a Batesville hospital.

Born Aug. 20, 1913, in Portia, she was the daughter of George and Mary Osborne Whitmire. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnie Wilson; her second husband, Dutch Crownover; a son, Alfred G. Wilson; a daughter, Lura Ketchum; and a great-grandson, Kevin Fisher.

Survivors include two sons, George L. Wilson, Coldwater, Mo., and Larry B. Wilson, Belton, Texas; two daughters, Eunithia Boone, Rockford, Ill., and Sue Wilson, Batesville; a brother, James Watson, Cave City; three sisters, Kathryn Troutman, Brookland, Jean Tate, Cave City, and Lora Carlin, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Willis-Hays Chapel with Rev. Bobby Shepherd officiating. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery at Strawberry under the direction of Willis-Hays Funeral Service of Batesville.
