Lifetime Stone County resident Coleman Carl Gammill, 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at his home in Onia, Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Shirley Sue Cox Gammill, his daughters, Vicki Gammill Altland and son-in-law Mike of Conway and Karli Gammill Rosa and son-in-law Gary of Lakeview, and three wonderful granddaughters, Rebecca Altland Branch and Terance Branch of Fort Worth, Texas, Bonnie Altland Brown and Jason Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lindsey Sue Rosa of Lakeview. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marla Gammill of Ponca City, Oklahoma, two brothers-in-law Mark and Connie Cox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mike and Terese Cox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa,several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many good friends.

He and his wife, Sue have lived and operated their cattle farm at Onia, Arkansas for over fifty years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charlie Gammill and Ellen Boyle Gammill, a brother Logan Gammill and a grandmother, Dora Boyle, who raised him after his mother's death.

He was an active member of Timbo Valley Assembly of God Church where he spent many happy hours helping to build and took the "count and amount" each week in Sunday School. He was a member of Lindsey Masonic Lodge 292 of Timbo. He was a board member of Stone County Farm Bureau and a veteran of the Korean War.

Coleman loved his community and served it in many roles. He was a teacher at Marshall and Mountain View for thirteen years, served in thee state legislature for one term, and was Stone County Judge for ten years. One of his proudest accomplishments as Stone County Judge was the addition of the Stone County Industrial Park. He worked diligently to recruit industries to provide much needed jobs to the county. He brought his knowledge and love for the area to many visitors during the summers that he worked for the U.S. Forest Service. Coleman loved traditional mountain music and bluegrass. He was one of the co-founders of the Young Rackensack club at Mountain View School, was a MC at the Ozark Folk Center and spent many happy hours pickin and singin with his family and friends. He also loved working on his farm, raising cattle, bailing hay and caring for the land. He loved to interact with people. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was an excellent fisherman who enjoyed passing on his love of fishing to others.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Timbo Valley Assembly of God Church from 5 - 8 p.m.

Funeral services will also be held at the church on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with David Campbell conducting the service. Burial will be at Pordue Cemetery at Onia.

Pallbearers will be Troy Dale Morrow, S.W. Treat, Jr., Leonard Horton,Duane "Boss" Morrison, Tim Gammill and Shane McElroy. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos Lawrence, Carbin Gammill, Clesson Caston, L.C. Gammill, Lester Passmore, Guyman Gammill, Lloyd Brewer and Dwight Richardson.

Memorials may be made to Stone County Hospice, 204 Whitfield, Mtn. View, AR 72560.

Roller Coffman Funeral Home, Mtn. View is in charge of the arrangements.
