SLASON, J.W. - Judge J.W. Slason died Friday morning at five o'clock at his residence just south of the water tower. Judge Slason and wife came here from Culman, Ala. several weeks ago and had been housekeeping only three days when he died. Last summer he received a severe sunstroke from which he had never recovered and which was the ultimate cause of his death. He was 72 years old and had served 35 years on the bench in the province of New Brunswick, Canada, also holding other positions of importance. Mrs. Slason is a sister of Dr. W.H. Lennox of this city. The funeral was held from the residence Sunday morning and was conducted by Rev. Castell of the M.E. church, South.
