SPRINGDALE — Lula Isabelle "Dude" Meeker, 83, of Springdale died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at her home in Springdale. She was born July 28, 1927, in Benjamin, Texas, to Sherman and Geneva Barton Zachary.

Mrs. Meeker married John Edwin Meeker, longtime area barber, on June 27, 1948, in Fayetteville. She was a homemaker throughout her life and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and doing family genealogy. She was a member of the Church of Christ and former member of the Home Extension Service where she had served as president.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009; by two brothers, Vaudrey Zachary and Albert Zachary; and two sisters, Pauline Sharp and Thelma Erwin.

She is survived by four sisters, Leanell Shockley of Springdale, Marjorie King, Val Wallis and husband, Jerry, all of Lowell, and Shirley Lichtenberg of Bella Vista; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 11, at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. To sign the online guest book go to www.heritageofnwa.com.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Bluff Cemetery.
