Bobby Joe Green, age 79, of Overcup, died on Monday, February 24, 2014. Bob was born October 19, 1934, in Plumerville, Arkansas to Joseph (Buddy) Green and Cora Shipp Green.
Bob was a faithful member of the Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church and a respected member of the Masons for over fifty years. He had retired from both, the Morrilton Packing Company and the Conway Human Development Center.
Bob loved to study God's word and spent many hours reading his Bible and talking with his wife and children about Scripture. He also loved any kind of gospel music. But the most important things in Bob's life were his love for the Lord and his family.
He is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Joyce Pearson Green, and his children, Joe and Marilyn Green, Cindy and Joe Kelly, Kaye and Jeff Powers, Lisa Knowles, Lori and Coy Petty, Russell and Jennifer Meaders, Monty and Carol Meaders, and Robert and Sarah Meaders and three sisters, Marvelle Garrett, Joanne McCann, and Arbelle Adams. He also leaves behind thirty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Cora Green, brothers, Vernon and Clayburn Green and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, at Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Craig Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Halbrook Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, at the funeral home.
