Cannaday Family (Peace Valley) Cemetery

The Cannady/Cannaday Cemetery is located on land homesteaded by James Wagstaff Cannaday in 1854, and all six of the graves are members of his family. The graves used to have a fence around them, but when member of The Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society visited there last in March 1995, only one of the tombstones was still standing. The other tombstones had been knocked over and were propped by against a tree.

The cemetery is located in the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 6, Township 17 N, Range 26 West. The cemetery is located on private property and permission should be obtained from the landowner before entering. To reach the cemetery you must travel down a dirt farm road, past cattle pens, open gates, go across cattleguards, and past by turkey houses. You should obtain more detailed directions before attempting to find these graves.
